Be cold as ice

It’s crucial to come prepared to Wadi Rum because upon arrival, you’ll encounter numerous individuals attempting to sell tours and providing misinformation. As you drive to Wadi Rum, you’ll first pass the visitor’s center where you need to purchase an entrance ticket or scan your Jordan Pass. Upon arriving at the visitor’s center, it’s advisable to park your car, buy your ticket, and ignore everyone (except the police!). Walk straight into the desert, as the people at the visitor center may try to mislead you, even to the extent of following you by car (yes, this really happened to us!).

Hiking and wild camping in the Wadi Rum Desert are not common activities. In all honesty, wild camping in the Wadi Rum desert is also forbidden. We couldn’t find any good blogs online that documented a 3 to 4-day hike through the Wadi Rum. Therefore, we designed a trail ourselves, gathered information on resupplying water, and went for it. Fortunately, finding good wild camping spots and refilling our water bottles were not significant issues
